Rain, Rain Go Away

I walked down to our basement one rainy day and
discovered that it was flooding. My husband couldn't come
home because everyone else's houses where flooding too. I had to vacuum
up water for the next 8 hours until reinforcements arrived. That was on top of keeping my little
ones alive also :-) My father in law came to the rescue(he had the day OFF because of the rain) and
came over and put in a new sump pump, But by then the water around the house was so backed up that the floors and walls continues to leak for another 28 hours.
My wonderful siblings Michael and Christy stayed up all night vacuuming
so we could get a little sleep. Needless to say, when we were able to finally turn off the
three shop vacs that had been going all day, all night and all day again, our ears rang from the silence. We
rewarded ourselves with what seemed like the first real meal in forever and watched
Night in the Museum. Funny how much we take silence and a non-leaking house for granted.
Our basement used to be finished. It stayed like this until shortly before Lissy's b-day party
then we got it back to normal. I'm SO thankful for a dry basement and two wonderful siblings!!!
Oh yes, I guess for my not so helpful husband who graced us with his presence at about 9:30 that
night. But really I felt sorry for him because he had to rip his nice basement apart and was up until past
midnight and had to be up by 5:45 the next day to get back to work.
