The Pageant

The queen's court(there is a pageant queen every year)

This section of the pageant was Natchez
Under the Hill. My understanding that it
was kinda the red light part of the city.


The gentleman to the very left
is Uncle Bryant Reed. He played the part of
the captain and sang two songs and did a little dancing too :-)(with
the barroom girls)

The King and Queen of the pageant.
There are two clubs. The Natchez Garden Club and
the Pilgrimage Garden club. They each have their own king and queen
who reign for two weeks each during the pageant. It is a by-invitation-only club.
Tere were only a couple of black pople in the pageant and NO black people came to watch it.
