New Year Letter
Here is the new year letter that we sent out. Sorry if you didn't get it but you all know how much one little postage stamp costs.
Dear Friends and Family,
Mommy said she didn’t have time to write the Christmas letter this year so I decided to do it for her. Since I’m a little guy and type really slow- one finger at a time, this will have to be a New Year letter. I’ve heard my Mommy say the phrase ”better late than never”.
I was the biggest and best change this year. I, Micah Bryant decided that I had had enough of being all scrunched up and made my way into the world on August 8th. I weighed 8 lb. 8 oz. and I was 22 inches long.
Mommy went into labor at 5:30 in the morning. We all (not Lissy, she went to Gramp and Nana’s) went to the Birth Center at about 7:30 and I saw daylight at around 10:30.
Mommy says that it has been SO much fun having me around and she never ceases to be amazed at how fast a term baby changes and grows, whatever that means. I weigh about 4 pounds less than Lissy right now. I can’t forget to mention that I popped my first tooth on the 2nd of January and Mommy can see another just about to come. It doesn’t feel very good so I’ve been telling her by fussing extra lately. I also have been rolling from my tummy to my back. She says I am a good baby and I like to be cuddled and held.
My big sister Alissa who is 19 months old is into EVERYTHING!! Mommy is always picking up
something she has pulled out. I keep thinking she’ll decide she’s had enough and teach her to put
stuff away but she hasn’t yet. We’ll see how much longer she can take it I guess.
Nothing remains unturned and Mommy is sure that Lissy’s life ambition is to touch everything on the planet earth. She turned one in May and we had a party to celebrate. I didn’t get to see anything or eat any cake but I heard everything and it must have been fun. Alissa ate her first cake and made a big mess with it (she ate it by herself with her hands). It was a big deal ‘cause Mommy doesn’t let us have much sugar. Mommy thought she (Lissy) would get sick for sure (Aunt Kim gave her a HUGE piece) but she didn’t.
Alissa started walking a little before I was born so Mommy didn’t have to carry us both everywhere. Lissy says Ma-ma and signs bye bye, eat, more, please and thank you. Mommy and Daddy try to get her to say Da-da but she just laughs at them. She really seems to like me but has a funny way of showing it. She loves to lay and sit on me, poke me, pat me and talk to me (I can’t understand her though).
Mommy was on bed rest from mid May until the end of July but got me all the way until almost my due date, something she calls “full term”. They moved in with Aunt Kristen (I call her Aunt Sissy) and Uncle Matt for five weeks so we all could be closer to Des Moines in case Mommy went into labor fast like last time. Aunt Sissy was also on bed rest (due on July 9th). They spent their days talking, watching movies and TV, reading and playing Tetris. They seemed to have a great time together and got along really well and I didn’t ever hear them argue once. Mommy said that bed rest wasn’t that bad except for the rash she got all over her stomach, legs and back for a few weeks. She said it was miserable! There wasn’t really anything that they could do for it but thankfully it was only really bad for about a week. They moved in with Daddy’s parents for the last five weeks of bed rest and moved back home about two weeks before I was born.
Daddy has found a new hobby that that Mommy calls “campering”. He bought our first camper after Christmas and can’t wait for spring to get here so we can make (what I think is going to be) our weekly treks to the campground. He also traded the Montana that he had bought Mommy three months ago for a Suburban that can pull his beloved new toy. He has continued to work for Harrington Plumbing Inc, which he enjoys most of the time. Daddy likes to play with Alissa and make me laugh and smile.
All in all, the Lord has blessed me and my family this year. I hope that each of you draw closer to Him this year than the last and that I see you all soon. I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and have a wonderful New Year.
Love,
Micah Kaiser
